She Left Corporate America for Her Family’s Recipe. Dallas-Fort Worth Has Never Tasted Anything Like It.

For years, she lived the corporate path. The titles. The big brands. What she calls "the perfect Nigerian girl" path. She was grateful for every bit of it. And still, she chose something else.

Susan, the founder of The Puff Puff Party, left corporate America for her family's recipe. A recipe that has been passed down for almost a century, the kind that does not exist in a cookbook. She turned it into The Puff Puff Party, Dallas-Fort Worth's number one dessert experience, built around West Africa's very own puff puff.

The Puffs

The base is what it has always been. Soft, golden, and perfect. The kind that is not too dense, not too airy, not something you replicate from a YouTube tutorial.

From there, Susan lets you make it yours. Endless toppings, customized drizzles, and a creativity that keeps expanding.

  • OG: dusted in confectioner's sugar
  • Cinnamon Sugar: tossed in cinnamon and sugar
  • Churro de Leche: cinnamon sugar finished with a caramel drizzle
  • Nutella Fella: drizzled Nutella with crushed vanilla biscuits
  • Caramella: caramel topped with toasted coconut flakes
  • Berry Guava: homemade guava and strawberry sauce finished with diced strawberries
  • Cookies and Cream: white chocolate sauce topped with Oreo bits
  • Birthday Cake: white or milk chocolate smothered, topped with sprinkles
  • Dubai Chocolate: pistachio paste, melted white chocolate, crushed pistachios, toasted kadayfi
  • M&M: melted milk chocolate with mini M&Ms
  • Mix and Match: any two flavors, your call

She has also been drawing connections between puff puff and its cousins across the world. Bonhilos from Angola. Poffertjes from the Netherlands. Pholourie from Trinidad. Festival from Jamaica. Fried dough shows up in nearly every culture. Puff puff is just what West Africa calls it.

Her tagline says the rest: Donuts Could Never.

Why This Matters

Susan did not water it down. She walked West African puff puff into a mainstream Texas farmers market. Got it booked for corporate events and weddings. Turned it into an interactive dessert experience.

African Dishout exists to celebrate exactly this. The food, the founders, the stories behind both. We do not have The Puff Puff Party on our platform yet. But we have been watching, and we are proud.
